Balance
There are some days, days like today, when you find yourself without anything much to say. Today is the second day in a row, and I think it’s mostly because if I said anything, I’d be complaining about the blisters on my feet. Instead, I’ve kept my mouth shut, because I don’t want to make this a whinelog. To that end, I’m manufacturing something to write about today.
A friend of mine posted on Facebook today this Albert Einstein quote: “In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.” It’s a quote I’ve always liked, because the idea of digging through rough times in order to achieve something great has always held an amazing appeal to me. But there’s more to it. When you dig through difficulty, even if you reach opportunity, there’s another danger. My reply to him was, “In the middle of opportunity lies trouble”.
I firmly believe success comes not by having opportunity, nor by taking it – though both steps are surely necessary. No, success comes when one takes the opportunity, and then masterfully dances between difficulty and trouble.
I know… not much of a post, but it struck me as a thought worth sharing. Be ready to succeed, but be ready for both trouble and difficulty along the way.
